Training, The Old Fashioned Way.
For owners of the old Nintendogs games...
In order to win in Obedience Trials, your dogs must know a variety of tricks. Voice commands are the key to an intelligent dog. In order to ensure your voice training is successful, pronounce voice commands clearly and completly. To avoid confusing your dog, avoid different commands that sound the same. To ensure your commands are conveyed clearly use the same pronounciation and intonation every time. If a red ? appears during voice training, your dog couldn't understand your command. Make sure you pronounce the command exactly the same way as your first time. If a blue ? appears, it means your dog is confused the command with another command it already knows. Try thinking up a command that's creative and different. For example, if your dog confused "sit" with "spin", try changing spin into "circle"! The training icon is the light bulb in a bubble that appears on the top right corner when your dog does a trick. To teach your dog tricks you first make your dog to perform it.
•SHAKE –Say sit into the microphone then hold your dog’s paw and say your comand.
•LIE DOWN- When your dog is sitting, touch its head and slide down its snout with your stylus. Your dog should then lie down. Touch the training icon and teach it your command for the trick.
•ROLL OVER - When your dog is lying down, slide sideways across your dog to make it lie on its side. Then, slide up its belly to get it to roll onto its back. Touch the training icon and teach it your command for the trick.
•SPIN - If you grab your dog's tail and wind it up, it will start to run in circles, chasing its tail. Touch the training icon and teach it your verbal command for "spin".
•JUMP - When your dog shakes its bottom, tap the air above your dog's head at this time to get it to jump into the air. Touch the training icon and teach it your command for jump.
•BEG - When your dog is in the standing position with all four feet on the ground, touch its belly and slide up to its neck to get your dog to do a begging motion. Touch the training icon and teach it your command for beg.If your dog is NOT yet loyal and obedient, it might not do the trick.
Tip: In order to achieve "excellent!" in the free performance part, normal tricks won't do. Sometimes in the obedience trial, it is very rare that your pup will do a trick it hasn’t learned yet
•
•WAVY DANCE - When your dog is begging, drag its front paw slowly and your puppy should now be standing. After a while it will start dancing. Touch the training button and give the trick a "name".
•BUNNY HOP - Make sure your dog knows how to do the "wavy dance" and jump first. Now, tell your dog to dance then tell it to jump and it should start to hop like a bunny. Touch the training icon and give the trick a "name".
•BREAK DANCE - For this trick your dog will need to know spin and roll over. Make it roll over and while it is, tell it to spin. Touch the training icon and give the trick a "name".
•BACK FLIP - For this trick your dog will need sit and jump. While it is sitting, tell it to jump. Touch the training icon and give the trick a "name". An easy way to teach a dog backflip is if you have a Flower Waltz record.( At the end, dogs do backflips. Zoom in on them on upper screen and as soon as a dog does a backflip, tap the training icon and say the command you want. Go to the supplieslist, touch music, select Flower Waltz and put the needle towards the end of the record, go back to your home screen, zoom in on one dog and repeat until the trick is learned. It could take a couple of tries since this is one of the advanced tricks.)
•HAND STAND - For this trick your dog will need to know lie down and beg. Make your dog lie down and while it is, touch the training icon and give the trick a desired name.
•HIGH JUMP -This trick is different than the normal jump, because it is higher and depends on your dog’s mood. Just follow the same teaching as the regular jump, if it’s in a really hyper mood it might jump until it can touch the top of the screen! Then, touch the training icon and give the trick a "name".
•ROLL OVER AND JUMP -Tell your dog to roll over and then tell it to jump. If your dog is well fed and watered then it will have a better chance of doing this trick, but be patient as he or she might not feel like doing the trick.
•If you had fun doing advanced tricks, here's an even harder one to try! To perform this trick you need the "keyboard" item.
•SINGING - A secret trick that's totally different and hard to pull off! Zoom into the dog you want to teach, then play a tune (under 15 notes) on your keyboard. After playing wait and the Training Icon will appear! Repeat this process and your dog will become an American Idol! (or whatever type of idol you wish)
•Sometimes, while you are in the home screen and zoomed onto a dog by tapping its picture, the dog will do a trick on the top screen. If this happens, the Training Icon will appear on the top right corner of the home screen. Here's a list on this special type of trick.
•DIG - When your dog digs the ground, touch the Training Icon and say your voice command.
•HOWL - Sometimes, when you hear a sound (such as:dogs barking or a police siren) while you are at your house, your dog will howl back. Touch the Training Icon when he or she howls.
•LICK - When your dog licks itself, touch the Training Icon and say your voice command.
•SCRATCH - Zoom in on a dog whose coat status is "Filthy" (its body should have fleas;those black dots jumping on and off your pup) Wait a bit and your pup should be scratching itself. Touch the Training Icon and say a command.
•SPRINKLER- When you see your pup shake as if it's drying itself, touch the Training Icon and say a command.
•SNIFF -When your dog sniffs the ground, touch the Training Icon and say a command.
•YAWN - When your dog yawns, touch the Training Icon and say a command.
•(There are also some un-advanced tricks that you could get your pup to perform, although they are in the group of advanced tricks.)
•SNEEZE - When you tap your pup's nose, it will sneeze and you can teach it the command name of your choice.
•Practicing a trick with your dog will familiarize your dog each trick and will understand. The bottom line of tricks is spending some time with dog, practicing. Have fun, making up your own, also!
